About this place
The Queen's Bath is deceptively austere outside and richly decorated within. A large square bathing tank sits at its centre, surrounded by a corridor of ornate arched balconies and vaulted bays that once drew cool breezes over the water. A moat encircled the building and lotus-shaped fountains fed the pool, an early example of the Vijayanagara engineers' mastery of water.
Good to know
- View the sunken bath and balconies only from the permitted walkway; do not cross barriers or enter the drained pool.
- There is little shade around the monument, so an early-morning or late-afternoon stop is more comfortable.
- Parking is outside the protected structure—follow the signed pedestrian entrance rather than driving to the map pin.
