About this place
Sita Sarovara is a small stone-edged tank on the north bank, close enough to the Anegundi road that most people ride straight past it. The name attaches it to Sita, as several places on this side of the river are attached to the Ramayana — this is the country identified with Kishkindha, and the association is old and local rather than signposted. What is here is water, cut stone at the edges, and quiet. It takes twenty minutes and it is on the way to everything else on this bank.
Good to know
- Small, quiet, and easy to ride past. Watch for it on the left coming from the bridge.
- The stone edge is uneven and slippery when wet.
- A local sacred association: be quiet if somebody is at the water.
How to get there
- By road to the entrance
