About this place
Halli Kere is a village tank, which is to say it is not a sight and nobody has ever recommended it. It is here because it is the kind of place that makes a second or third day in Hampi worth having: a bund to walk, water with boulders behind it, egrets, and no one selling anything. Come in the last hour of light, when the heat has gone off the stone and the cattle are being brought down. The track in is unsurfaced and fine on a scooter in the dry months; after heavy rain it is not.
Good to know
- Unsurfaced track in. Fine on a scooter when dry, not after heavy rain.
- A working village tank — people and animals use it. Keep back from where they are washing.
- Nothing here at all: no shop, no toilet, no shade, no signal in places.
How to get there
- By road to the entrance
