About this place

The Guard's Quarters stand at right angles to the Elephant Stables in the Royal Centre, sharing a courtyard and guarding the approach to the Zenana Enclosure. The long single-storey building rests on a high platform and is fronted by a row of pointed arches in the Indo-Islamic style favoured for secular Vijayanagara buildings. Today it houses a small open-air museum of stone sculptures recovered from sites around Hampi.
