About this place
The Chandikeshwara Temple stands just across the road from the Uddana Veerabhadra Temple, on the northern stretch of the sacred centre near the river. It is a compact but well-proportioned Vijayanagara temple, with a sanctum, a pillared front hall (mantapa) and an enclosing courtyard wall. Its columns and doorway carry restrained carvings typical of the period, and the open, boulder-strewn setting is quiet and photogenic. Because most visitors hurry past on their way to the bigger sites, it is usually calm — a good place to pause and take in the everyday scale of Hampi's many neighbourhood temples.
